The Kitchen Garden

One of the newer work groups has taken over the organisation of the outside area to create a kitchen garden such as it might have looked around 1900. The first task they undertook was to recreate an orchard containing eleven old types of apple tree typical of the region behind the newly rebuilt Kalandhof.

As part of a degree study at the Institute for Agricultural Planning and Garden Architecture at the University of Hannover a plan for a rural kitchen garden along historical lines was developed in the winter semester 2004-2005. The Kitchen Garden work group is trying to adapt the suggestions to the needs of the Museum.
