In 2011 the Winsen Museum Association constructed two buildings from materials salvaged from a barn in Thören. The wood was prepared in Wolthausen. The restoration and rebuilding was carried out by the members with financial support from the Celle Sparkasse Bank.
The Archive building between the Groode Hus and the Coach House contains mainly a collection of textiles which must be stored in appropriate, temperature controlled conditions. The Collection and Archive Working Group has its premises here. On the ground floor on the right hand side is the Raftbuilders’ history of transporting wood on the Aller and Weser. In days gone by this was an important sideline for Winsen inhabitants.
The second building, a barn built in the typical style of the area, stands next to the Kalandhof and serves as a storeroom.
